averaged once in 210 years (0.46%). Bradford
schoolchildren reported one incident of violence or
assault every 4 years on average
listen to them and only teach by example i.e. don’t tell
them anything they didn't ask for. Act and say things
the way they should. Hearing my stock phrases repeated by young people always made me smile, e.g.
children telling staff, ‘It’s not the volume of what
you’re saying, it’s the clarity”. One method was
daytrips almost anywhere away from the familiarity of
their daily life. On one occasion, Children’s Rights
called with questionnaires about the care staff. I
laughed, “You want staff to guide young people on
answering questions about themselves!”. They
thanked me for suggesting a party, at their premises.
I was a single dad. One day I asked how I was as a father when they were little. My eldest said “You were a
good dad because you learned what not to be from
your dad. You learned how to love from your mother.
Correlating addiction with crime, Rat Park
experiment:
‘Bruce K. Alexander at Simon Fraser University,
Vancouver, Canada, found that rats living in a social
environment were less likely to self-administer oral
morphine than those housed in isolation.’ The rats in
one group had toys and opportunities to socialise and
behave, close to naturally as they would in the wild.
Taking this into the human context, science would
show that civilisation developed from changing primitive behaviour, procreating like cattle, to allocating
roles like predators such as wolves.(Kenneth Clark)
10% of humans have no inclination to mate with the
opposite gender, 10% train for defence, 10% might be
preoccupied with educational developments in science, art or music. Less than half the population are
capable of giving birth to a natural average of 2.4 children. Everyone contributes in some way, to the collective (see, The Ascent of Man, Jacob Bronowski,
1976)
Q. You advocate for the Community treatment of
wounded families, holding families to account to
avoid care proceedings. Can you explain this
approach?
This might raise a few tempers and eyebrows but
traditional British families were demolished after the
contraceptive pill was marketed as free love without
consequences. Which, from the early 70s, included
young girls and boys. There was an angry brigade
which was a strand of a militant gay/lesbian organisations who had lost their female bi-sexual partners,
(who could engage with the opposite sex ,without the
risk of pregnancy due to the contraceptive,) along
with gay rights movement, and fascist anti-Semitics,
they all colluded to destroy Judeo-Christian families .
This inadvertently made their children more accessible to minorities and to child molesters. The Thatcher
government 1983, destroyed working class by importing cheap labour. She then devastated working
class families and communities by commercialising Social Services to trade in selling children abroad. PM
Sunak family and countless others in the Family Law
and care system, bulldozed poor children into
“Looked After” Care Homes, Adoption Agencies and
Foster Homes. 95% of Grooming victims were in
“Looked After” Care. (Hopkins, GMP, operation
Green Jacket).
Q. How important is it to have experienced
practitioners in this field implementing treatment,
approaches and policies?
Depends on their experience and their politics. All
women who disrespect fatherhood, men and boys will
be disrespected and despised by the majority of young
people. Anyone lacking in humility or compassion will
also be resented. At a large meeting, talking about
Bradford youth problems, I explained how I had
qualifications “pouring out of my ears”. You could give
me a well-equipped youth club and £thousands. After
12 months I would still be sitting in an empty youth
club. This man (Bradford youth worker) could fill it in
a week. You simply cannot explain those abilities. One
observation is that children who were abused, recognised and confided in staff with a traumatic childhood.
Apart from that, the personality and charisma needed
are like a talent than a skill
Q. You discussed Sanctions as a type of behaviour
control. Please explain this theory and practice, pros
and cons.
Borrowing from Alexander Neill, 'motivation' is the
only keyword to learn about. One governor I live with,
is not to talk about myself. It kicked in now, answering
this question. Some of the youth offending and bail
hostel residents wanted to use their experiences to
keep others away from trouble. This only works for
your children, not other peoples’. Silence is often the
solution that encourages young people to talk of
things they might never share for many years. I never
used sanctions or punishment even when provoked
or attacked, I only once restrained a young man
threatening a young woman. These children had suffered enough. I believe in forgiving “those who trespass against us” which has evidently served me well.
Local authorities faced a dilemma:The cheap labour
which undermined working class families, migrated
into the UK under the once noble banner of Diversity. This was a devastating social disaster; Social collapse on a Biblical scale. Devastating effect of child
abuse created an apocalyptic holocaust of suicides, extreme violence, brutal torture and sexual assault. Now,
each generation lives in a perpetual cycle of increasing
violence, assault and crime. The dilemma for many
local authorities was financial pressure to provide fatherless, and behaviour problems children for care
homes and adoption agencies. Children were being
processed through the Family Courts, BUT HANG
ON! Traditional working-class families and communities are rock solid, deeply rooted in love, they resolved relationships and protected children for
millennia. Many laying down their lives if needed.
Around 1897 a week-long storm led to a serious food
crisis. Men took to their fishing boats and sailed into
the storm only so that others could see which way the
