Honouring the Past
In the heart of Glasgow's West End, the Broomhill Hyndland Parish Church stands as a testament to
history and community. This Presbyterian Church, formed from the merger of two congregations in
2017, recently undertook a project of profound significance: the creation of a new War Memorial
Board.
The original marble plaque, a solemn reminder of the
sacrifices made during the World Wars, could not be
moved to the new building. Thus, the church sought the
expertise of Greenbarnes Ltd. to craft a new memorial
that would honour the fallen with the dignity and respect
they deserve.
Crafting a Legacy
Greenbarnes Ltd. is renowned for its bespoke honours
boards, and the creation of the War Memorial Board for
Broomhill Hyndland Parish Church is a shining example
of their craftsmanship. Judith Johnston, an elder, parishioner, and volunteer worker at the church, shared her
heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of Greenbarnes Ltd.
in bringing this project to fruition.
"I wish to thank you for all of your efforts with regard to
the design and creation of our Memorial Board," Judith
expressed. "This is a project very close to my heart, and I
greatly appreciate all you have done to bring it to fruition.
The Board is now in position and looks splendid."
A Tribute to the Fallen
The new Memorial Board now stands proudly in the
church, displaying the names of thirty men who fell in the
1914-1918 War and nine from the 1939-1945 War. This
tribute ensures that their sacrifices are remembered by
future generations. The dedication ceremony, held on
Sunday, January 19th, was a poignant moment for the
congregation, led by the Reverend George Mackay.
Excellence in Service
Judith's colleague, Mat Morton, was instrumental in
coordinating the project with Greenbarnes Ltd. "My
colleague Mat was in contact with you repeatedly and
received excellent support," Judith noted. The dedication
