Linking old and new with
bespoke rooflight designs
The Rooflight Co is driven by a deep passion for design excellence and engineering precision. The company
has played a key role in a wide range of creative and original projects, where the challenge of maximising
natural light within historic buildings has called for an innovative yet sensitive approach. In many of these
projects, the rooflight design has not only enhanced daylight and ventilation but also responded carefully to
heritage context - balancing performance with preservation. This balance lies at the heart of The Rooflight
Co’s bespoke work with Conservation Rooflights.
With a collaborative and considered approach, their
technical design team works closely with architects,
conservation officers, and designers to deliver rooflight
solutions that meet detailed planning requirements while
complementing the architectural features within a space.
By focusing on doing the right thing, the right way, they
ensure the right solution is delivered - whether that’s
identifying a classic size, creating a fully bespoke option
or offering the ability to link rooflights together to create
unlimited runs of heritage roof windows. This creates
greater design flexibility, particularly in conservation-led
projects, where maintaining the historic fabric is essential.
By honouring planning constraints and working within
existing structural limitations, linked rooflights designed
with traditional detailing offer a way to introduce an
abundance of natural light while remaining sensitive to
the architecture’s heritage.
Coach House: a seamless blend of old and new
One project that exemplifies this approach is the
refurbishment of a Victorian Coach House, a project led
by award-winning architect Peter Williams. The transformation of the property centred on introducing natural
light into the heart of the home, particularly the hall and
stairwell, where daylight had previously been limited. The
Rooflight Co collaborated closely with the architect to
design a run of linked Conservation Rooflights that
