lition and a requirement to give notice to the Local
Authority for any works to trees.
With regards to proposals to extend a Listed Building
within a Conservation Area, alongside the standard considerations of whether any extension would impact the
significance of the Listed Building, the Local Planning
Authority has a duty to have special regard to the preservation or enhancement of the area. As such, you would
need to be able to demonstrate that any proposals to extend your property would either preserve or enhance the
character and appearance and thus the significance of the
Conservation Area, or it will need to be demonstrated
that any detrimental impact to that significance could to
be outweighed by the public (including heritage) benefits
of the proposal.
An independent Heritage Consultant would be able to
provide you with further advice as to the implications of
your property being within in a Conservation Area and if
this brings within it any other considerations in respect of
your proposals.
