Hill’s new Visitor Centre is open
Somerset Council are thrilled to announce that the brand-new Visitor Centre at Ham Hill is now
open and ready to welcome visitors.
Situated within the Lime Kiln Car Park, this exciting development
marks a major milestone in the Uncovering Ham Hill’s past for
its Future project, which has been made possible thanks to
the incredible support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund
alongside the Wolfson Foundation. Their generous funding
has helped Somerset Council fund the building and preserve
and celebrate Ham Hill’s rich heritage for generations to
come.
This is more than just a building, it’s a place for learning,
discovery, and community. Whether you’re visiting Ham Hill
to explore the history, enjoy the stunning landscape, or simply
relax with friends and family, the Visitor Centre is the perfect
starting point for your visit to Ham Hill.
There is more to look forward to, to make the new visitor
centre complete. Somerset Council are also adding a brandnew natural play space called the Hillfort Hideout, a relaxing
outdoor seating area and planting wildflower areas.
The new Visitor Centre offers a range of fantastic facilities
designed to enhance the visitor experience, including:

The new Limekiln Café. A welcoming haven offering
delicious refreshments and a dog-friendly atmosphere
where all income generated from the café helps support
Ham Hill and its future.

A retail space featuring local products and gifts
•
Engaging exhibition spaces showcasing Ham Hill’s
fascinating past and its vision for the future
•
A gallery to tell more of Ham Hill’s stories through
changing exhibitions and local arts and crafts.
•
A fully accessible Changing Places facility and
modern toilets
And the Heritage Fund journey is far from over. Somerset
Council still have two exciting years of funding ahead to bring
even more improvements and experiences to life.
