The material is applied consistently across the walls, floors,
and ceilings, creating a cohesive, tactile environment that
enhances the spatial experience with its natural warmth and
visual texture.
The Long Barn
Alex also designed the Long Barn, a key component of the
overall masterplan, serving as a versatile space for work,
leisure, and accommodation for family and guests. The barn’s
footprint follows the outline of a pre-existing structure, a crucial
design requirement for securing planning approval. Clad in
Dinesen’s Douglas Fir, the barn’s exterior is intended to age
naturally, allowing it to gradually blend into the surrounding
landscape. In contrast, the roof presents a striking juxtaposition
to the wooden cladding.

The barn’s entire roof is formed by GB Sol infinity panels
which Alex collaborated closely with to develop a seamless
and integrated solar roof design, where the solar panels are
incorporated into the roof structure itself, creating a sleek,
unified aesthetic rather than a traditional, add-on solar panel
installation.
The Long Barn features a home office with an elevated
mezzanine, where circular windows punctuate the walls,
framing panoramic views of the valley from the upper level.
Adjacent to the office is a triple-aspect yoga studio, designed
to emphasise the volume of the space, with a vaulted ceiling
that draws attention to the apex above.

staff quarters and a garage.
The interior of the Long Barn is entirely clad in Dinesen’s
Douglas Fir, featuring a subtle pink hue that imparts a playful
yet warm atmosphere.
