GB-Sol’s involvement with
the Long Barn
Integrated into the Long Barn, the Infinity solar roof forms a continuous surface across both
elevations, conceived not as an applied technology but as part of the building’s architectural fabric.
Fixed directly to the roof battens, it replaces conventional roofing materials entirely, allowing the
roofscape to read as a singular, unified plane.
The system delivers 56kWp of installed capacity, supported
by three on-site batteries, enabling the building to harness
and store energy generated throughout the day. In this way,
the roof not only contributes to the architectural language of
the project but also plays a central role in its environmental
performance.
Based just north of Cardiff, GB-Sol is a UK manufacturer
specialising in building-integrated photovoltaic systems. With
a long-standing focus on the relationship between solar
technology and architecture, the company develops solutions
that sit comfortably within both contemporary and traditional
contexts.
