“
Arrival is not where you end up but how you are
welcomed. Our work set out to reverse a hierarchy that
had separated visitors before they even stepped inside —
and to realign the design with the Mosaic Rooms’ ethos
and vision.”
— Helena Rivera, Director and Founder,
A Small Studio
Full RIBA Service Delivery and Planning Specialism
A Small Studio acted as lead architect, contract administrator,
project manager and CDM co-ordinator across all RIBA
work stages, from initial feasibility through to completion,
managing a project of 1,180m² gross (internal and external)
delivered under a JCT ICD 2024 contract with main
contractor Rose Development Services Ltd. The practice’s
integrated, full-service approach — combining architectural
design, community engagement and specialist planning
expertise — was integral to the project’s success, enabling a
challenging, multi-faceted consent strategy to be pursued,
justified, and secured within RBKC’s conservation area
framework.
This project affirms A Small Studio’s belief that refurbishment
— rather than demolition — offers the most sustainable,
imaginative and generous way to adapt London’s historic
buildings to new needs, new communities and new futures.
