Conservation & Heritage Issue 49 October 2025 - Flipbook - Page 9
Phase II, covering restoration and repairs to the ground
floor elevations, is scheduled for Spring 2026. Reflecting
on the achievement, Chris Lister, Lead Contract
Administrator (Workman LLP), observed “from the outset,
Restore London drew on their extensive experience, helping
to overcome numerous challenges on what was a particularly
demanding scheme.”
Terracotta In Context
When properly treated, terracotta is among the most
durable of building materials. Seminal examples include
the Royal Albert Hall, the Victoria and Albert Museum,
and the Natural History Museum. Today, Restore London
continues to play a leading role in terracotta conservation,
with projects including the Harrods façades, the Devils of
Cornhill, the award-winning Findlater’s Corner, and works
at Victoria Station.
