Conservation & Heritage Issue 50 Winter 2025/Spring 2026 - Flipbook - Page 3
Editorial
Welcome to a very special issue of the Conservation and Heritage Journal
Issue 50 is a milestone that we are very happy to celebrate with our readers and advertisers. We would like to thank you all for
your continued support and hope that all of you will still be with us when it comes to celebrating the Century of issues.
In this issue we run a varied range of articles featuring what we believe to be amongst the best projects that Conservation
& Heritage Artisans and specialists have been involved with. As you will see from the amazing front cover image we feature
the beautiful Arding & Hobbs building located at 315 Lavender Hill, Clapham, Battersea in our Capital City. We hear how
Architects Stiff + Trevillion transformed this historic building.
We also hear about how Stannah Lifts help transform many Historic buildings and this article includes one of our nations most
well known which is the Elizabeth Tower or known to most as Big Ben.
We also hear how under the banner of “Building Britain’s Sustainable Future” the Stone Federation hosted a Parliamentary
Reception.
Another anniversary celebrated with this issue is Thomann-Hanry and 20 years of Heritage Cleaning. Thomann-Hanry are of
course a premier heritage facade cleaning & restoration company. The team here at the Conservation & Heritage Journal would
like to congratulate Thomann-Hanry on their special anniversary.
We would like to welcome Eco Tiffin to the Journal, with their first article in which they talk about “An Industry Game
Changer, The AirDrain, a Permanent Passive Replacement For The French Drain.”
In this special issue we continue featuring the Royal Warrant Holders Association. We take a look at how His Majesty the King
Appoints the Prince & Princess of Wales as the Grantors of the Royal Warrants. One Royal Warrant Holder that has advertised
in every issue of the Conservation & Heritage Journal through 2025 is Wrights of Lymm. Wrights of Lymm are proud to be the
official suppliers of Gold Leaf and Gilding products to His Majesty the King.
Here at the Conservation & Heritage Journal those of us that set up the features love to feature Cathedrals, and in this issue
another regular supporter of the Journal, architects Purcell run an article titled “A contrast in continuity in Conservation: The
journey to preserve Canterbury Cathedral”.
Situated close to Buckingham Palace is Lancaster House. Regular contributors Hare & Humphreys talk about how in early
2025 they were commissioned to undertake sensitive repairs and decorations to continue the magnificence of this National
Treasure.
On page 55 Iain at Heritage Lighting Matters takes us through Picture Perfect Art Lighting. Throughout 2025 we have enjoyed
Heritage Lighting Matters adverts & articles and their beautiful use of colours making everything standout.
New to the journal in this issue is Darwen Terracotta. Managing Director and Co-Founder Jon Wilson tells us that as well as
expanding in the UK market the company is also expanding its US presence. We do of course wish Jon and Darwen Terracotta
every success in 2026.
Further on in the Journal Eric Parry Architects talk to you about the Holburne Museum and the Schroder Gallery.
I could of course go on and on introducing every contributor and article but this special anniversary issue is just packed with
gems for you to read and enjoy.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have a project or a product that you would like us to feature in a future issue.
